Gino's East is home of the ultimate Chicago-style deep dish pizza. Last weekend, we ordered a medium supreme (sausage, onion, and mushroom) and a small cheese & spinach. They were both heavy and divine.
Each layer of the pizza held its own. The outside of the golden crust was slightly crispy but the inside was doughy. The next layer was made up of high quality ingredients. Like that sausage? Yeah, it was filled with fennel and tasted homemade. If you go here, don't try to be 'healthy' and skip the sausage. It takes the pizza to a whole other level.
The layer of fresh mozzarella was melted to perfection. I could die happy eating a regular cheese pizza if it was made with this cheese. Like a young Kevin McAllister once said "Mmm, a lovely cheese pizza just for me".
Overall, it was a great experience. The waitstaff was pleasant and the blasting AC made it a nice oasis from the humid city streets. The only downside was the wait time. They make the pizzas to order so we had to wait 45 minutes for them to bake up. Also, I didn't try the pasta, sandwiches, or thin crust. But lets be real, you probably aren't going there for anything but the deep dish.
